This is a beautiful large Loof Jumper, newly restored, and done in rich wood stains,, horse is circa 1890's. Has papers researched by previous owner, horse is from Kolb's Carousel Rensselaer Park, Lansingburgh, New York. This all wood, original Loof measures 64 inches long, and 48 inches tall. He does not have any original paint underneath (alas we were hoping)The horse is in good condition, We have given him a beautiful new tail, reins and stirrups, base and brass poles are included. He comes with 3 research letters . The first is from the Rensselaer County Historical Society, (1980) with a brief history of the Park. It was in operation from the 1860's till about 1925. They knew several horses had been taken off and replaced by animals. Next letter, from William Long (author of a book on Loof) states This carousel was set up in 1907 , and the carousel had been converted to jumping horse mode, it had been all standers. The last letter from Frances D. Broderick , send a photo of the working carousel in the park. Found in the animal a Ticket from Kolb's carousel,"Good for One Ride", all of these will go to the purchaser of this horse.
